…was awesome. I went to Detroit. Here’s a quick breakdown of my week, for those who care:

Pistons game: It was the game vs. Denver, and in case you don’t follow, the Pistons raaaaaped them, so needless to say, great game to be at…

Casino Windsor: Truly an awesome night, for a lot of reasons. It was my first time ever setting foot in the country of Canada, and my first time drinking absinthe. Then when we hit up the casino, I played extremely well in poker and left with $55 more than I sat down with (even though I was up way more at some point but I managed to mess that up).

Michigan State: I turned 21 that night, so lots of drinking and partying ensued. Once I got past the surefire awkwardness of only knowing 2 people at the party, it turned out to be a pretty fun night…

Greektown/MGM Grand: comped hotel rooms and meals are the coolest thing ever. I lost some money on this casino run, but I wasn’t worried about it, I was having a good time…

I have to say, a lot of people gave me “what the fuck” looks when I told them I’d be going to Detroit for spring break, and either told me Detroit was a shithole or that I’d definitely get mugged, raped and shot.
Unequivocally, Detroit is not a shithole, it’s just like any other city, some areas are nice and others you should steer clear of. It gets a bad rep ‘cause I guess there’s a lot of crime and such, but I definitely didn’t feel nervous at any point walking around downtown during the day or at night.

Anyway, that’s all I got for now. I might update more with other things I think of, in the meantime I need to get back to studying and such…
